The Royal Order of the Purple Pip Chicks was started by Debbie {Queen Debbee} on her 50th birthday in 2004. We have been celebrating life together as a group ever since!
Our group has pips of all ages in it, and the flavors our mix or gals creates has been one that is pleasing. We look forward every month to our meetings and where they will take us.
Sometimes to the park for a chicken dance, and once in a while, simply to tea. No matter where we are, we have fun together. This blog is for these chicks to share and further relate
with each other. If you are a member, and would like to place pictures of your own on this site, please email our Queen, and she will invite you to be a member of Chicken Scratch.
However, remember that it is not necessary for you to be a member if you simply want to comment on another chick's post or comment. Come back often! Our meeting news and other informationwill be posted here for easy referal.
HOW WE GOT OUR NAME
Long long ago, when Queen Debbee was still a wee Princess, she loved purple peeps, those little marshmallow chickens so popular at Easter time. She loved the crunch of the sugary frosting as she bit into their gooey little bodies, heads first, of course! But that's another story!
One day while chatting aimlessly (rather like she is doing now) to her dear friend and loyal subject, Lady Rose of Cimarron, she foolishly referred to them as pip chicks. Lady Rose, not wanting to embarrass the Queen, wisely and forever after refered to peeps as pips and so it remains to this day.
Years later when the Queen was approaching her 50th birthday she decided to throw a tea party in her own honor. Admittedly, this was rather vain of her, however, in her defense, she also decided to join the Red Hat Society and invited all of her loyal subjects, old and new, to join with her.
Choosing a title for one's Red Hat chapter is a responsibility no Red Hatter takes lightly. The Queen thought long and hard about the matter. She thought of many options. She dismissed many options. Then one day she had a stroke of genious! (not uncommon for the Queen) An "ah ha" moment, as Lady Oprah of Winfrey would call it. She knew that pip refers to a person that is highly desired (as is she and her many friends), a single Peony flower (her favorite flower), and the process of breaking through one's shell (something the Red Hat Society helps women do). She also knew that chick refers to, well, everyone knows what chick refers to! She immediately decided and decreed that her chapter of the Red Hat Society would from that day forward and forever more be know as, The Royal Order of the Purple Pip Chicks! Unless, of course, she changes her mind...
